A most skill full way to approach our partner creating an intention based on right speech, right action and right effort, is to provide an offering. This offering can have an essence of spa and wellness that the giver and receiver of the gift mutually benefit and learn from.
All relationships are assignments in our life for maximal opportunity of soul growth. It is our job to find tangible ways to express our love through heartfelt gesture. By doing so, we learn about ourselves and our loved one. These heartfelt gestures are not always in a perfectly wrapped box with a bow. Heartfelt gestures need not be feminine in their delivery, thereby honoring, and purifying a relationship in a gender neutral way.
A wonderful way to honor your loved one is to draw a bath, drop aromatic oil into the water, alter the lighting, light a candle, and pour a glass of wine. Bathing as a couple, or allowing your partner to soak in the benefits of a stress-relieving soak alone gives permission to “check out” for a few moments. Warming a neck pillow, playing some soothing spa melody and giving a foot massage is another way to show honor and respect for a close partner in life. Providing this heartfelt, tactile, sensorial experience allows us to give love from the heart. It also allows the person experiencing the gift to let one know how they openly feel; such as what they want more or less of opening the gateway of connection. It is impossible to show love being in a negative space towards ones partner. Any of these spa-influenced gestures will transcend couples into a place of ultimate positive regard.
Perhaps massage, and spa do not sound like a fit gesture. Togetherness and purification of the relationship may also be achieved from a wellness approach which is more in keeping with fitness. Set a mutual fitness goal and motivate each other. Commit to a date to take a spa or wellness trip at a destination spa and participate together in numerous activities. These type of togetherness practices connect and reinforce healthy habits and lifestyles for months and years to come.
One final togetherness recommendation that I urge all lovers of life, one another and all things good is to put this on the ol’ bucket list. Have a Watsu with your partner! Find a spa that provides this amazing aquatic experience and make it a point to be moved, pulled, swayed, embraced, and connected in 98 degree water. This experience is sure to stir the soul and participants will never view the healing effects of water, or each other, in just the same way as before.
Spa in Latin means Salus Per Aquam which translates to “health & peace by water.” May the healing practices from the spa permeate into your closest relationship providing the same peace and health.
